    Another Permutation problem

You guys give it a try . ( I solved this one)

A talent contest has 8 contestants. Judges must award prizes for 1st, Second and third places . If there are no ties a) How many different ways can the prizes be awarded, and b) how many different groups of 3 people can get prizes?

    a) 8*7*6=336
    b) 8C3 = 8!/(5!*3!)=(8*7*6)/6=56

    Am I right?

    aasho,
Follow the answer procedure Ron used remember as you pick the 1, 2 and 3 place and they do not go back into the initial group of contestants, I hope that helps.
