Another one to solve:

Talk show host Ralph Blowhard has exactly one guest on his show each day, and Blowhard’s show airs every Monday through Friday. Blowhard always schedules politicians on Mondays and Wednesdays, Actors on Tuesdays and Athletes on Thursdays, but can have a guest of any one of these three kinds on Friday. No guest appears more than once per week on Blowhard’s show. If Blowhard has five politicians, three actors and six athletes he could invite, and if no politician is also an actor or an athlete and no actor is also an athlete, how many different schedules of guests from Monday to Friday could Blowhard create?

Answer = 3,600

A = N
B = 3
Answer: B

Before sliding the ladder, use Pythagorean theorem to find that the ladder touches the wall at a height of 25 feet. Then calculate the height when the ladder (horizontally) slides 3 more feet (to 18 feet). Now use the Pythagorean theorem again to find where the ladder touches the wall, which is 24 feet.

25-24 = 1 = N

25-24 = 1 = N

Correct me if I am wrong

Condition First

302= 152+ VerticalHeight2
i.e. VerticalHeight2=900-225=675!=252

Condition Second
302= 182+ VerticalHeight2
i.e. VerticalHeight2=900-324=576=242

Hence, Drop >1feet

Talk show problem:

Monday (Politicians only) = 5 Politicians so 5 ways
Tuesday (Actors only) = 3 actors so 3 ways
Wednesday(Politicians only) = No repitition of Monday pol. so 4 ways of choosing a different politician
Thursday (Atheletes) = 6 ways of choosing atheletes
Friday(Pol/Act/Ath) = choose one out of remaining 10 (3 politicians + 2 actors +5 atheletes)

Total schedules = 5 x 3 x 4 x 6 x 10 = 3600

Thanks!
