A BB question

If x+2/y-3=0, which of the following must be true?
a) x=2 and y= 3
b) x=2 and y not equal to 3
c) x=0 and y=0
d) x=-2 and y= 3
e) x=-2 and y not equal to 3

According to my calculation d should be the answer, but the OA is e. Please explain

at one glance we are tempted to select option d is preffered answer but look closely, if x=-1 & y=3 results in 0/0 which

"In ordinary (real number) arithmetic, the expression has no meaning."
but selecting option e reults 0/(some constant) which is practical hence the answer

Hope that helps!!!

Yes, option e must be the answer as zero divided by other than zero is equal to zero
