Help with ETS practice problem

Hey all,

Anyone have the solution for this one? Because I can't seem to crack it.

For all numbers n, n* = 32 - n

Column A
(n*)*

Column B
n

I'm thrown by the asterisk-exponent (if it's supposed to be an exponent). How exactly do I interpret this notation? ETS says the values are equal, but I'm utterly confused as to how.

n* simply means that you subtract n from 32.
Now, n*=32-n
(n*)* means that you subtract n* from 32 which becomes,
32-(32-n)=32-32+n=n
