Do we need to know conversion factors between the units?
I am assuming ETS would want to remove cultural biases, make the exam more standarized, etc.

I know it is useful to be able to think in miles, etc. to be check whether your answer is in the correct range, but furlongs?? Has anyone come across that in a GRE?

Do the new type of questions count? Are they of the standard level? Those who have given their GRE recently, please tell.

I assume you would need to know simple conversions like hours:minutes:seconds and inches:cm. As for miles:furlongs and such, it's just unnecessary.
