mishum2000
On a certain tour, half of the men are married and the wives of 9/10 of them are also on the tour. If there are three more women on the tour than men, what is the least possible number of people who could be on the tour?

manwiththemission2005
loll. :) not really :) anyways 9/10 is a fraction So min 10 should be the limit of men. Number of men married = 10 Number of women (married) = 9 Total number of men = 10*2 =20 3 more than men - women 23- Women 20+23=43 :)
mishum2000
Right....you're correct "just" in 760 cases out of 800 :) loll. :) not really :) Now regarding the problem I have a question: Let x - number of men. x/2 - number of married man. 9x/20=y - number of married woman. If x = 20 then y should be 9. That means the number of woman shouldn't be 9, not 23 ? Where I go wrong ? There are also woman on the trip who are not married ? (the difference from 23 to 9) ? Thanks, Michael.
