## silly one from ..nova

Question...................................

given x= 2y + 3
6y = 3x - 9
compare
A: x
B: y

The answer in nova suggests that D

But I am having the delusion of A

Help me down here pal.

x= 2y + 3---(i)
another.....
6y = 3x - 9
=>6y=3(x-3)
=>2y=x-3
=>x=2y + 3
so both equations are same you cant determine the value of x,y as there are two unknown x,y variable..
So its D

Yah got it now
I was having another kinda problem.
Thanx.

hmm simple one, no need to calculate nything, cn find out by looking at the question tht therz is only 1equation..
BTW if its given tht x,y are +ve numbers then it wld have been A.

The equations are same. Answer is D

never mind...

guys i did it this way. tell me if it is wrong. column a is x. x = 2y+3 given. so i just compared 2y+ 3 to y and it came D

it can be done because two given equations are equal.. if they are not equal you cant do that........

I got u dude. Many many thanx.

but sometimes we can
If the problem was stated like t his..........
x = y + 3
2x - 2 = 2y + 4

Compare
A: x
B: y

There we can decide. A

I was misguided by this illusion on the previously stated problem.
Where the value y= -3 helped m,e out of the maze.

Take care
