Help on Study Material for a 1.8 Mnths Preparation Period

    Hia,

I am new to this forum, but not the GRE... I have been running away from it for the last 4 years...trying to find a way out... Indeed I applied without a GRE (TOEFL 114/120) and got an admit on full standing with 50% Fee Waiver for fall 2008...Anyway could not afford the other half, So I quit.

As of now, I feel that an absence of a GRE score might have influenced their deceision, So I have decided to stand and make a fight right here, right now.

However, I have to join a job on 10th of September, with bootcamp training for 3 months and if I have to make an effort for full financial aid for fall 2009, I fell this is the only time I hav got. Thhis means approximately 52 days remain for the D Day...I have picked up Barron's , done with 30 word lists (I hope I can remember them all).. I have decided to go for Nova for Maths and Power Prep for practice..

I am aiming for a 1400+.. What I want to know is that if I take only Barrons For Verbal, Nova and Barrons for Quantitative and Barrons + Power Prep for tests, would it suffice for my aim... I know I have been negligent in not studying Big Book in the days that just flew by, But I want to ask if I am working towards Glory or Disaster... Is this study material sufficient for the battle ahead? Or should I do ....what...

Any Kinda help would be great in ridding me of these anxiety stricken moments...

    Thanx

    Rohit

Best indicators of actual gre scores are powerprep tests 1 and 2.
Take test1 now and see if you come near your mark.
Imo, if you get about say 1300 without preparation, you can get 1400+ in 1.8 months of intense prep with the material you mentioned. For over 1500+ however, your material may be insufficient.

    Thanks CartMan..

I can score above 750 in Maths, but my Verbal section is way short of the mark... I hav actually started no preparation for the Verbal section, since I think it wont be possible to try studying without knowing all of the 50 word lists ..... Questions make no sense in verbal at the moment....a 400+ is the best I could score at the moment in my current state...So you mean to say that an improvement of a score of 100 is the best that could be done in this short timeperiod??

Well, if you haven't done any Verbal prep at all, anything you do right now will help your score much more than 100 points. Try doing the high-frequency list in Barron's and see what sort of scores you get. Beware though, just doing wordlists is not sufficient. You must also know how to apply that knowledge to the types of questions asked.
