At first my choice was B although it didn't exactly make sense. It seemed to flow, but the logic was off, why would trainees revise rules for a manual to then create other manuals? That's the problem, it doesn't make sense, but what does is to use the meaning of derive from my trusty friend dictionary.com "to arrive at by reasoning; deduce or infer: derive a conclusion from facts."
Once you read this E makes sense. The trainees are trying to understand what the rules are by looking at an example. They'll design new manuals once they understand the rules. I need to learn to pay better attention. |

I think it will be E) derive because the process is omething like the trainees are given some knowledge and expected to train themselves accordingly i.e acquire knowledge from the finished manual & use it for creation of new manuals rather that find mistakes in the existing manual & henc correct them. Using this logic i think " derive" would be the apt soln.

(a)design (b)revise (c)disrupt (d)standardize (e)derive Repeating what kronique has posted, the finished manuals were given to the trainees to test whether the trainees themselves could make sense of what is given in the manual, which is not explicit. If this turns out to be successful, they would compose more of such instructional materials.
