This question was sent to me by one of our members. I thought he would post it, but he didn't, so here it is.
He said he found the question challenging and wanted to hear what we had to say. I'll reserve my comments for a while; I'm confident you guys can do it! The nostalgic associations we bring to this revived musical can give it an ------, though still affecting, poignancy; however, they cannot quite cover up its flaws. (a) unsettling (b) incisive (c) unflinching (d) internal (e) unearned Erin TestMagic help you before your test? Please remember to post after your test. Please? Please? |

Hmm.... I feel the answer is (e). <table style="background-color:white;color:Gray;font-face:arial;font-size:10px;font-weight:bold;border:1px solid black;vertical-align:middle;cursor:hand;" onMouseOver="this.style.backgroundColor='#eeeeee'; " onMouseOut="this.style.backgroundColor='white';" cellpadding=1 cellspacing=1><tr><td> Raghuveer</td></tr></table> |

Yes, it's either B or E.
The key is to focus on the question as a formula. First, though means opposite. Then we have to figure out what affecting means: "causing one to feel strong emotions." Or something like that. So, one of you is right. Either of you care to claim the prize? Either of you want to switch camps? I'll post my answer a little later... Erin TestMagic help you before your test? Erin, What's my prize, anyway? <table style="background-color:white;color:Gray;font-face:arial;font-size:10px;font-weight:bold;border:1px solid black;vertical-align:middle;cursor:hand;" onMouseOver="this.style.backgroundColor='#eeeeee'; " onMouseOut="this.style.backgroundColor='white';" cellpadding=1 cellspacing=1><tr><td> Raghuveer</td></tr></table> |

"Unearned" is used to describe something got without difficulty, or too easy. It can form the meaning oppsite of "affecting", while "incise" is similar to "affacting". Therefore, E would be a better choice.
