Many feature films are criticized for their .. content, even though
television news is more often the medium that depicts violent events in
excessive details.
A: discretionary
B: graphic
C: dramatic
D: artistic
E: honest

Could you tell me which is the answer and why? Thanks.

However the answer is 'graphic', to describe in vivid detail.

Why not 'discretionary'?

Thank you.

I chose "dramatic" as "excessive" and "even though" implied more than just depicting. But, as dramatic means sth exaggerated to create an interesting work, it is not supported by the sentence and goes beyond what is stated. So, "graphic" is appropriate among the given choices.

"discretionary" doesn't has any relevance here as nowhere it is stated that films decide according to their authority. Although this is true but is not indicated.

It's graphic because it refers to what you see -- for example the exhibition of Uday's & Uday's bodies was more graphic depiction of dead bodies than Americans are used to seeing.

when i read the Q graphic was the word i had guessed. Its a pretty common usage. graphic description of violence.

actually the word has to be a synonym for VIVID.
'A' is out right away.
C could be a possible answer.
same with B

Artistic ? no
Honest ? Maybe

so between B C and E, E is a very weak. We need something with a stronger sense.
B and C I gove equal weightage as far as the relevence in the sentence goes. but i'd still go with B becos of its very frequent usage in this very context.
