it should be something which deterred(hindered) the development of revolutionary idea somthing like declaration that movement is impossible by classical physicist.......so conservatism(against revolutionary) fits best!

Humm, makes sense. Somehow I was trying to make a contrast between the geologists and the "classical" physicists.
