(seems like OPEN,WELCOMING to bad ideas ...so HOSPITABLE), probably because in throwing off the shackles of tradition, we have ended up being quite ___(susceptible to....VULNERABLE TO) untested theories and untried remedies.

what i try to do after reading the sentence and before even looking at the choices i try to fit in my own words into the blanks...that helps a lot in selecting the best fit and eliminating others!
