Hey Psyoutlaw, sorry for the delay- the answers are-
1-a 2-e 3-d 4-c 5-e 6-e 7-c 8-e 9-e You have made similar mistakes..Ill write down the explanations for those- in 3.- they say virtuosity is a very high degree of competence- hence d instead. in 4.-The clues in the sentence are 'expressive of objective truths' and 'created by society' for the first and second blanks resp.Hence..c in 7.- [8)]I too thought the impressionist movement had a good effect on academic standards from the sentence- but what is expected from the sentence is a negative one- i.e. the impressionist movement actually went against academics..hence c. in8.-This is a very simple looking one-but maybe I too should have paid more attention to all the choices.. - because e does fit in..in 9.it was mostly because of cited that I chose e-which turned out right. acc. to the explanation 'rejected the hold of the church on society 'is a clue for the first blank. My exam is on october 17th..and Im starting to worry abt it (get a feeling in my stomach when I remember )- when is yours? |

Eagle,
Thanks for posting the practice problems. I was actually in a hurry when I answered them, but I was wrong still. My GRE test date is Sept. 9. Right now I feel really good about my chances but I am still nervous by not knowing what scores will appear when I complete my exam. By no means am I expecting 800s. I will be content as long as I am around my PowerPrep scores. I just can't wait to get it over with so that I can begin studying for my Psychology Subject test. The GRE is ALWAYS on my mind, I am ready to conquer it. Best of Luck, Psyoutlaw |

Hi Guys,
Could you please explain the 5th solution, because I'm a bit confused by it. I think (E) fits even better than (C), and I can't find the way to select between them. Good luck with you GRE in the nearest future , and I am sure you'll do the best! Cheers, Svetlana |

Hi Psyoutlaw,
yep, I see the distinction, but I don't see the reason why the students couldn't nickname their teacher as "queen of metaphor". Simply, why not? It holds the similar meaning even though metaphor is not the art - the lecturer's language being well-figurative and effective (metaphors are kind of sophisticated language tool, aren't they?) Please, could you clear that further on? Best Regards, Svetlana |

Svetlana- I think rhetoric is right too-like Psyoutlaw says..and also- I think it is in usage- like Ive heard 'queen/king of rhetoric 'used for good talkers... hope that helps. Psyoutlaw, your confidence is very encouraging. That's the spirit dude! I havent studied Psychology as a subject- but am looking forward to any questions /discussions on the psychology forum- you will post stuff, right?. I think its a great subject- and can help anyone in everyday life. I think I can participate to an extent.:o |
