Hello Ali,
I'm not 100% sure, but still...
1) only 'replicate' (c) makes sence for me, since the ideas of authors and teachings are duplicated due to the sentence meaning;
2) the meaning of taking money out of players and misguiding them infers that their strategies should be assured to be incorrect. Assurance is provided by prediction, and since only (D) contains the word with this meaning (prediction), and the second word 'accomplishment' sounds good in the context, I suggest the answer is (D). Though, first I had a though about (C), but I think 'maintanence' is too general and doesn't show what exactly is needed from the gamblers' strategies.

Kind Regards, Svetlana

Tough ones! I am cracked:-)
I think the first one answer is C, and the second one also seems to be C... though D is a close rival here.

Hi

Yes I admit these two are not your ordinary run of the mill questions. I got them among the last few questions on the power prep, and I got the previous ones correct. So I think these belong to the highest difficulty level.

Ok the answers are

1. D (inform). Here the first part of the sentence tells us that the books on eels are a key text for courses, so the second blank has to mean something close to this idea. A and B can easily eliminated. Use does not make sense. So we are left with C and D, and I like Svetlana chose C and got this wrong

2. C (maintenance .. function) ... The important thing to note here is the phrase 'in order to' and how it links the things. The first part of the sentence is just one of the functions of the illusions built into the games in order to misguide players.

Good luck
Ali
