Hi,
I have two sentence questions I'm not 100% sure about... Could you please have a look at them? 1) Although they were not direct------,the new arts of the Classical period were clearly created in the spirit of older Roman models and thus------many features of the older style. (A) impressions .. introduced (B) translations .. accentuated (C) copies .. maintained (D) masterpieces .. depicted (E) borrowings .. improvised 2) Religious philosopher that he was. Henry More derived his conception of an infinite universe from the Infinite God in whom he believed, a benevolent God of -------whose nature was to create--------- (A) plenitude ..abundance (B) vengeance .. justice (C) indifference .. suffering (D) indulgence .. temperance (E) rectitude .. havoc Regards, Svetlana |

Hallo, Svetyk, I have the feeeling that the answer to the first question should be C and for the second one D. If I am correct I will elaborate an explanation, BTW I think that the clue for the second one is "benevolent"

I think the answer to the first is C- as given by not direct but still similar.impressions and translations may be similar in meaning but the overall meaning with the second blank included is best in C.
I think the answer to the second sentence is A. 'Benevolent 'God i.e. a giver- hence God of plentitude and the' infinite' universe i.e. a lot of stuff- hence the creation of abundance. |

I think C and A
BTW, can someone explain what the first sentence of the second SC meant: "Religious philosopher that he was" Does this means that: "He was 'such a' religious philosopher"? Thx. |

Hi All,
![]() Thanks a lot... I really appreciate your strong suggestion regarding the first sentence, since I put 30% on (a), (b), and (c) equaly.... :o The second sentence: I also think it should be (A), and now I believe it must be (A). Thanks to you, Eagle, for pointing the key word (earlier I missed its impact here - need to be more attentive)!!! ![]() |
