Let me try for the second one...
The answer should be B..Here , the main clue is///////// viewed as an attempt to ------- responsibility for one's own actions/////////
One can escape for his responsibilites instead of assume, minimize, shift or proclaim.Hence the ans...B

For the 1st question the answer (in my point of view) is A.Because scourge is a source of widespread dreadful affliction and devastation such as that caused by pestilence or war .Such thing cannot be bannished ,denounced instead weaken.Hence, A.

But , in my answer sheet they have said that answer shud be C, which i couldn't understand why it should be..?

And so,for the question 3 , the answer mentioned was D ..but in my point of view it should be E, hence again a contradiction. Can anyone explain ..?

can somebody explain question 3 since I came up with answer as E rather then what meruchi had given (C) in the intial posting.

That was the answer mentioned ,I hav't changed anything....infact i also came up with E..
