# No longer - by the belief that the world around us was expressly designed for humanity, many people try to find intellectual - for that lost certainty in astrology and in mysticism.
1. satisfied - reasons 2. reassured - justifications 3. restricted - parallels 4. sustained - substitutes 5. hampered - equivalents I think it is very subtle.. Please explain... Thanks...! |

hampered - equivalents is definitely irrelevant in the context of statement. restricted - parallels also seems irrelevant.
reassurance actually cannot be connected to the beliefs of people or world. So 3 options are ruled out. Second options can have reasons or substitutes. But if you look at the context of the statement, substitute seems to be fitting because substitute means replacement or to put in use instead of another, i.e. people try to find the lost certainty (as provided by the belief) and try to find answers through other means like astrology, and mysticism, thus replacing the medium for finding intellectual answers. Furthermore, beliefs are meant to be sustained by people. If somethings are not able to satisfy you in some manner, you will start disregard it instead of looking answers through different medium. You know, human nature. So option 4 is true in this context. |
