Axiomatic means relating to, i.e author is trying to state some positive relation between philosophy and science, so it means one depends on another.

So C and D seems to contradict the latter part of phrase, so they are wrong. Superfluous means redundant, or wasted, which again contradicts the statement. B is wrong.

A somewhat states the correctness of entire statement, but is little generalized and doesn't guarantee the correctness entirely. So A is ruled out.

Left with E, it does support the statement and its conclusion.

I am sorry to say this. Since i too get the same ans during the test.. there was an unexpected typo. I have seen that only after going through ur explanation. the ans is B.. which is where i was confused

Sorry, if fact it is my fault. Axiomatic is not what I said before. I checked it now and it means self-evident. So anything which doesn't need supported explanation. So from that point of view, E could fit in scenario but surely doesn't give the statement a convincing meaning. And superfluous gives it the correct stance.

God, Verbal gives me goose bump. I incorrect meaning, and you end up messing everything. Why can't they just change the pattern!!!
