if 7 dancers dance for 8 hours and lose 20 pounds 1 dancer for 8 hours lose 20/7 pounds 1 dancer for 1 hour lose 20/(8*7) pounds let the new dancers be x to make her a dancer at par with others (lol in this case to lose weight) we have to devide it by 2 nw time is hours continuing the above equation.. 1 dancer for 4 hours lose [20/(7*8)]*4 pounds total dancers now... (7+x/2) because lets say x=4 so effectively they are doing same work as the original 2 dancers would do.. (7+x/2) for 4 hours lose [20/(7*8)]*4*(7+x/2) now the total weight lost is 20 so.. [20/(7*8)]*4*(7+x/2)=20 so effectively 4*(7+x/2) = 8*7 so x=14 interestingly, the above equation can easily be thought of .. wid practice and understanding.. best of luck |
