GRE Subject - math

Hi,
Long time ago I found a link in this section that is related to preparation for GRE subject math. I lost this link, and now I am looking for it, but I couldn't find it..
As I recall, the link contains many math problems, the one who posted it wrote that it is not exactly written for GRE math, but it helps a lot, and it's useful to work on those problems..
Does anyone know what I am talking about? Can you guys get that link, or any other link on preparation for GRE subject- math?!

Thanks in advance.

Try this

I have read a similar question in the GRE Math booklet. Let's try a 2D version:

two points x and y are to be chosen in the unit square with uniform distribution. What is the probability that their distance is less than 1/2?

interesting question. if i understood it correctly, you pick two points A and B at random from the unit square [0,1] x [0,1], and you want to find the probability that the distance from A to B is less than 1/2. Unless I did some stupid arithmetic errors, the answer is (9*Pi - 5)/48. right?

The correct answer is .75
you can either take a calculus based or geometric approach to this question

the calculus based approach is to find the sum oof 2 double integrals
(INT(a,b) will mean the definite integral from a to b)(f(x,y)=1)
INT(0,.5)INT(0,y+.5)dxdy+INT(.5,1)INT(y-.5,1)dxdy=.75

the basic direction for the geometric approach is draw two functions
y1=x-1/2
y2=x+1/2
y1 will intercect the unit square at (.5,0) and (1,.5)
y2 will intercect the unit square at (0,.5) and (.5,1)
you are looking for the area inside the unit square between these 2 functions.
if you divide the unit squre into 4 quadrants (each with P=.25)
then in the 1st and 3rd quadrant have P(|x-y|<.5)=1
in the 2nd quadrant y1 divides it diagonally therefore P(|x-y|<.5)=.5
in the 3rd quadrant y2 divides it diagonally therefore P(|x-y|<.5)=.5

in total we have
(.25)(1)+(.25)(1)+(.25)(.5)+(.25)(.5)=.75
which is the answer to the question

im sorry i couldnt draw a diagram on the computer when you go through the problem a diagram will make things easier.
much success with studying!

I have gone thru some of the threads,they talk about Princeton Review book..is it worth while?
