For PhD programs in computer science, research experience is the most important thing. Everything else is secondary. The ideal is getting published in an international journal or presenting a paper at an international conference.
hello friends...i m a 2nd year cs btech student of nit surat..i want to sit for gre frm d same subject..though a lot of time is left but i want to know about where to start my preparation from and the initial guidelines for the same...approx how much gpa would i need to get through and wat kind of research experience would help....please guide me thru this...

The quant part should be a cakewalk. You may start preparing for the quant part just 3 months before the test. However, I have a feeling you will need to put in good amount of efforts for the verbal /AWA section. So, if you are serious about GRE, start working on the verbal section right now.
