HI ALL!
I don't know if its been mentioned here if so then it'll be a reread or repost. But in addition to studying all the words from Barron's Guide and BB. I have another suggestion on how to increase your Vocabulary count. I signed up for three online dictionary sites and I get three words of the day everyday delivered to my email account-for those of you with those fancy phones you get them delivered on there as well-you can sign up for more or less sites if you like but three was enough for me. I've been doing this for about a year. So that's ~1000ish or so words. I've noticed that a quite a few of the words I get on a day to day basis are those that are tested on the GRE and in Barron's and probably BB. Even if you have only 2-8 weeks of study its an excellent way to get additional words that might not appear in the study guides or refresh you on words you already know. I am not very good at sitting and memorizing~nor taking standardized test so I thought I'd get an early start on it. Give me math anyday though over large volumes of words to memorize.![]() I've also found that as much as you can get others involved in your learning, it helped me with retention. I'd use the 3 words as words of the day in a email or conversation with friends or family or work. Also can be done with students if you are a teacher, with your kids, nephews, cousins, etc. Makes it a really great game. I also wrote them down in a notebook and made flashcards for some. I am using the Barron's guide and will use BB, but I've been able to check off quite a few words because of my words of the day list. Well Happy Studying-just wanted to give my on a strategy that's helping. Good Luck and I'll keep you posted. I take my test middle of December.Last edited by tlc_dst : 2009 October 30th at 05:06 PM. Reason: Forgot to say-That in addition to you getting words of the day each word has a syn or ant below it-so more words to build on. |

Hi all,
I agree with tlc_dst's idea of learning a group of words in a day and then making use of them in your day-to-day life. This is, I suppose, the most easiest and practical way of remembering the most words and Flash cards come as a handy tool when you have to learn few words in a day. Instead of carrying a heavy book (which has the entire wordlist in it), just carry those flash cards which you want to learn that day. You must check out BIG CD flash cards, they have an amazing content (around 4200 words, pronunciation of each word, synonyms, antonyms, sentences etc. plus an exercise book which is again content-rich.)
