Hi all,

Just wondering as how long it took for you all to prepare the GRE word list. I have only a month and half to take the GRE (taking the exam at the later time cannot be done due to other commitments) and I have to have very good scores in the test inorder to cover up my short comings in my career...

Suggestions please on the verbal and AWA section...........Math I am confident

Hi makeurdreamscometrue! I think you should re-post your question, to a more appropriate forum. This forum is for discussing GRE results (" I got Q710, V550, AWA4.5" - that sort of thing...)

I created my word list in about 250 hours
I don't even know how much hours I spent on studing it
In total I was preparing for the verbal section during 9 months (working fulltime).
It was rather time-consuming, as you see (I'm not a native speaker).

Yep, I really like to keep posts organized by topic. Call me uptight, but I like an uncluttered forum.

It depends how long your word list is. Whatever word list you're using, a month and a half is a good amount of time to learn a decent amount of words. The good news is that you don't have to know how to use every single vocab word. You just have to have an idea of the meanings.

For starters, try learning 30-50 words a day, and every three days, review the words that you've already gone over and nothing else. Fifty words a day might seem like a lot at first, but don't worry, it gets MUCH easier as you get used to memorizing vocab. When 50 gets too easy, don't hesitate to up the ante to 60 or more.

Hi ncy111,

When you say 50 words, do you mean words from wordlist of either Barrons, Kaplans, Prinston.. sth like that? Because I am using Gurus GRE wordlist in which a wordlist of 50 has about 25 too easy words(I mean with my Vocabulary).. remaining 25 are of barrons standard. I can manage to do these 25 per day. In course of time my ability to memorize these words has increased a lot and I recently increased the number from 15 to 25 perday. I think I can increase it still provided I revise the words very frequently, But I fear that I will for get the words very soon and it woruld be waste and if i pressurize more i start getting confused..

What should I do. My target is 600V.. now I cant say how much I am getting but my score interms of No of correct answer is 23 or 24 out of 38 questions from Big Book. Can you tell what may be my rough score.

And how should I proceed.?

It took me 250 hours to memorize the 3500-words wordlist from barrons. 25 days for 10 hours a day (~150 words per day). However, my english sucks; probably you will be quicker than me

. Gury wordlist and barrons wordlist coincide by 90% at least, I think.

I guess that 23-24 is around V500+, 550 at best. 27/38 is <=600 and 30/38 is ~650
