Re: GRE "WORD LIST"

To be honest, any one will be OK if you really pore into it.
Good luck~~

Re: GRE "WORD LIST"

Hi,
In my experience, I will say that not a single word list is perfect. It can be observed that the real GRE may have atleast one or two words that are not given in Barron's.It has to be accepted that only Barron's is the most comprehensive when compared to the the other guides available in the market.
Remember, a word list should not serve the purpose of answering the anotnyms and synonyms alone. It ought to help you with your RC and AWA too.Unfortunately, the reality is otherwise.
Another defeciency that exists in all word lists is that when they give the meaning for a alien word, the meaning itself is another alien word!! It poses a problem to not native speakers of English like me.Hence, the best way would be to instantly refer to the Oxford Dictionary and make a strong mental note of the meaning, as the real GRE may not give choices similar to the answers given in Barron(or any other list) for a given word!! So, remember, the basic formula is that a good word list,if memorised by heart, will help to answer 90 % of synonyms and antonyms only. For the rest, you should do some extra study, which coupled with luck will tide you through.
I would welcome any contrary views to my viewpoint,as I may not be always correct.

Re: GRE "WORD LIST"

I'd say Barron's is the best since it's the most thorough with much more words than any other lists. For a shorter list, I'd say go with Kaplan.
