Oxford Meanings

Hello

I m preparing for verbal by using oxford dictionary. I find "slang meanings of the word, colloquial meanings of the word, and some botanical terms(like shrub in N.America,etc.)" .. I would like to know whether these are asked in real GRE section. This would make my mind clear of the confusion that I have when going through the dictionary.

Please do reply....
Thanks

Firstly, I'd suggest you use the Merriam Webster's collegiate dictionary/ American Heritage Dictionary as a primary one and Oxford as a secondary one. Simple equation :

British English is different from American English
Oxford is British
MW is American
ETS is American

And yes you can get slang words because Oxford and MW might differ in their definitions of slang

Expecting the world to treat you fairly because you are good is like expecting the bull not to charge because you are a vegetarian.
