How good is BB in prediction of the V-score ?
Hi my dear fellows,
Could you share you experience regarding Big Book accuracy in the score prediction? Somehow, I've found it extremely easy, compare to Barrons for example. I've been scored about 520-570 on BB tests. My ultimate goal to get 500 on the verbal and I still have a month before my real test - do I stay a chance ? PS Yes, I've already read this ![]() http://www.urch.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6688&page=1 (Practice GRE Tests vs. Real GRE)

Holden, I'm passing on what my friends who've taken the GRE told me- The Big Book is far superior to Barron's in terms of practice questions for Verbal and is pretty much useless for Quant. Your scores in the BB tests are good indicators of your actual score in the GRE (although PP is supposed to be better).

Holden,
Have you taken a look at reviews for the Big Book or the other 10th edition one on Amazon.com? A lot of the reviewers shared their experiences there. In short, Big Book is a pretty good indicator of verbal. |

Yes, I've read some of them, but as far as I remember - I've found the reviews very divergent. PS Couple days ago I've got absolutely crazy for me score on 10th ETS verbal - 680(!) ![]()

Holden, the Big Book verbal scores are very indicative of where you lie. I always used to get in the 650 - 760 range on big book verbals. However when I started out with CATs, my scores used to be around 610, 620 and so on... after getting used to the nuances of a CAT, i started getting in the same range as that of big book, and my actual verbal score was also in that range. Don't use it for quant however, and always do both the sections in one sitting(i.e. 1 hour) from big book.
