well, for my gre, i went well beyond barron's learning words i've never used since (shame on me!) .yes you do get that one odd word out of barrons and in my case i didn't know that one word. the barron's wordlists should see you through. best of luck!

1. You will come to know different meanings of same words. 2. You will gonna encounter some new words in synonyms and antonyms of the word, you are looking for. Barrons has the best word choice but explanation is not satisfactory. I suggest you to do barrons in this way. Plus remember, learning words and solving verbal are different things, practice should be a done in parallel. PLUS DONT FORGET TO PRACTICE RC's. |

You do not need to memorize the exact definition of 3500 words in two months. All you need to do is to get a sense of the meanings of each word. Go through the whole list swiftly, taking no more than 3 seconds reading each word and its definition. The best time is right before bedtime. When you wake up the next morning, go through the list again. Repeat the cycle a couple more times, and you'll realize that you have retained more than 50% of the vocabularies. Do some practice exams, and you are more than likely to encounter those words you have seen in the list. If don't remember them, look it up, which helps you to retain them. Go back to the list again a few more times, and you'll eventually master all 3500, which is more than you'll ever need. I agree that going through the same list too many times can be boring, so maybe you may want to try to switch to different lists. In fact, looking at multiple lists will really help you to understand the meaning of each word better, for not all definitions are created equal in different word list.
