Probably not, strength in statement is not enough, u need the reasoning to be in line with statement to avoid deception.

it cant be A.to deceive ,the reasonig has to be seemingly true but actually false.in other words,it has to be cogent or convincing. But it doesnt deceive anyone because its specious.

The answer is D because specious means seemingly plausible but fallcious/ deceptively attractive. what the statement means is that the reasoning in the editorial is obviously not true and that they can not see why anyone can be deceived to think that its legitimate. I dont know if i explained it well but i hope this helps

sorry, i still do not understand.

specious - Plausible but false > i can certainly see y anyone could be deceived by it.

coherent - Marked by an orderly, logical, and aesthetically consistent relation of parts/Capable of thinking and expressing yourself in a clear and consistent manner

Now i would be surprised if someone was deceived by that..(we cannot see)

The reasoning in this editorial is so --------- that we cannot see how anyone can be deceived by it.

so it should be coherent. people being deceived by it would be surprising( something we cannot c)
