question about powerprep vs kaplan..

so i have taken the quantitative powerprep test multiple times and its helping me quite a bit in better reading the questions (even now i still miss a crucial word that costs me hte answer) and getting the math concepts back that ive lost for so long. my question is, i have been getting consistent 610-660 on the Q part of the powerprep, but on the kaplan i took it and got like a 450. im not good at math

should i be worried about that kaplan test that i did so bad on it?

i only really allowed myself just over 3 weeks to study for this test as i need to take it soon, im still having major trouble with square roots (like 2 square roots of, or 3 square roots etc..) but for the verbal, im really just trying to study as many "hotlists" as i can. doing the kaplan+barron one, 515 words, if i learn those will that put me in atleast decent shape for the verbal? i get consistant 450 on that on the powerprep...

The PowerPrep scores will be a better predictor than any third-party tests, including Kaplan's. If you're scoring in the low to mid 600s on PowerPrep, more than likely that's where you'll be on the actual exam.

thanks, that had me worried why my kaplan score was so low,the questions, after you do this for a bit, are really not that hard. slowing down is still my goal, i go too fast and miss something important atleast every single time i take the test.

do you think studying the list of kaplan/barron top words along with maybe a few other "most important" lists would be, given the time i have until the test (9/11/09), good enough for the V section? im writing 2 words per flash card now, is there something more productive you would recommend? thanks!

I haven't studied for the verbal, so I can't tell you what strategies are effective. A lot of posters have spoken highly of Barrons for verbal prep.

Good luck.
