Low AWA Score...Need Guidance

Hi.
I am Maninder B.E.(Hons) Chemical Engineer from BITS-Pilani and am currently working at IIT Bombay as a junior research fellow. I am planning to apply for Ms+Phd programme in chemical for Fall 2011.
I recently gave GRE and got a score of 1500. But i scored very low in AWA (3.0/6). Anyone could please clear my apprehensions as to how badly the low AWA score would affect my application chances ?

Why do you want to apply for MS+PhD. You can directly apply for PhD in Chemical Engineering. Low AWA score can be compensated with your TOEFL score. With 1500, you should be fine.

Hey. Thanks For Replying. My CGPA is 7.89 which when converted to scale of 4 by (a-2)/2 method scales to little less than 3.0 so I am not to sure whether I would get Phd. admission in a Good University. As far as my knowledge goes, Ms+Phd admission have less CGPA requirement as compared to only Phd.
Can you kindly confirm that my notions are correct or not.
