Taking GRE in Nov. 9th
I'm not goog in Math and it's been 15 years since I did a Math problem. I took a practice test (Powerprep) and scored Q=540 and V=610 :-(. I am frustrated because i took another full practice test after 2 weeks and I only got Q=480 and V = 600 making me think my first test was a fluke.I am so terrified. I've been browsing this forum for help but not sure what else I can do. I have an amazing Math tutor and been studying flash cards. I am applying to PhD programs in Social Welfare UC Berkeley, UM, Columbia, UW and UPenn |

Hey friend, I've always been thinking Math is the easiest-to-bit cake
Just kidding, but do you get some book to learn math? My recommendation would be Kaplan. I used it for a while and found it pretty well designed. And a general suggetion for Math would be, hmm, do more exercises ![]() Good luck! |

Hey dalluyon,
Maths is a little boring but if you try to relate Math problems with your daily routine (e.g. probability, time & work etc.), you can retain interest in it atleast till your exam because I believe Practice is the only key. Also take tests from GRE BIG CD since their tests are REALLY tough and it would act as a good practice. You can track your progress in their Progress Tracker section. All the Best! Regards, mad_dy |

Thanks so much for all your suggestions. I will check the GRE big CD today. I did another full length test last night, the Powerprep cd and I got V: 520 and Q: 610 :-(
I don't understand what happened. I thought Math would be more of a challenge but now I am thinking Verbal needs more attention. i am due to take the test in a month and I am terrified!!!! Thanks for all your help! |

Do not waste the powerprep by just trying to judge your level. Take it when you are fully prepared. You can use kaplan, cambridge review CATs (total 7 tests) for practice and Nova's book if you have trouble understanding some concepts.
