I really need some advice
Hey there folks, I'd be glad if you could give me some advice:
I am going to take my GRE exam in December (in a bit less than 2 months), having (seriously) started studying for it a week ago (I know, a bit late). I intend to apply at Harvard, NELC (Near Eastern Languages and Cultures). You know, Harvard, the toughest uni out there. It's basically the only US uni offering what I want to do. Anyway, I know that I probably need to get a 1400+ score in order to be successful. However, English is not my native language, and that's where all the trouble starts - GRE verbal (extremely difficult for non native speakers, even if you habe a reasonable command of English). Now, I'd be grateful to get some information from several of you in order to be able to estimate where I am (b/c right now, I have absolutely no idea about my "situation" compared with others). Could you please tell me: 1. How long have you been studying for the test? What do you reckon would be the minimum time one should invest to get a high score? (I know, very subjective question, but I am a bit desperate with respect to time.) 2. What books / materials would you recommend? I've only read the Kaplan's Premier Program 2009 ed. and the Barron's "Essential Words for the GRE". What else should I consider? There's also the Winner's guide (online), anyone got any experience with it? 3. Any tips, tricks, ... ? Cheers, Vigen |
