Second Chance with first GRE exerience

Hi ..I have finished my mechanical Engineering in2009, I am plannig for 2010 fall aerospace intake in good universities, I have a good profile, Two International Aero Design award, NASA system Engineering appreciation award in Small Aircraft Undergraduate Design competition. recently I got National Award for designing a Micro Satellite structure for Indian institute of Astrophysics, awarded by Indian National Academy of Engineers. Presently I am working at Drone aerospace and have been involved in few defense projects. I will be having a year experience before leaving to Masters.

I gave my GRE few days back.. My preparation was Word power made easy 50% and some 200 to 300 words. It was a disaster, I dint know one crazy reading comprehension could mess up everything. I got some literature reading comprehension (Short one)about some novel, some mother and daughter. took 12 minutes but I think I messed it up..Then there was no time for second and third large reading comprehension. eventually test got easier and easier ( Ex : anology , Mosquito : repellent) I realized I have got screwed. Then Math section Came, I had this thing in mind. so tried to do everything right, at somepoint I felt that questions were getting tougher and tougher. So took more time. or may be lack of practise. So I ended up with 990 , 690 math and 300 verbal..( disaster, I had plans that atleast I ll get 1100 or 1200. ) ... very sad. after doing all these I am nowhere now. Can somebody suggest something.

I am taking toefl on 25th , shall I take my GRE again, Is it worth because I have very less time. December 15 most good grad school application closes. Can some body suggest me what should I do now please...I am very passionate about aero, I dont want to give up higher studies..Its a tool for my progress.

If you really want to get admitted into a good course in a good university, then you can be sure you got all your plans wrong. Better reschedule your plans, devise a new strategy and apply in the next intake. Taking the exams alone before the deadline will not get you anywhere. You need to get a good score, not just attend these exams.
Haste makes waste, hurry makes worry.

Hey praj....we are sailing in the same boat.I made my first attempt last month and i got an unexpected score like you which is 740 in quant and 380 in verbal.My target score is above 1300 and so i am gonna give an other attempt on nov 27.If you have plans to take GRE again by the end of this month and if you are prepared with your statement of purpose and LORs,then there is a greater scope to finish up with application process before the deadline.If you are looking for a fall admission,then be aware that the admissions are processed under two slots(Good universities will be under the first slot).Make sure about the deadline of the grad school which you gonna apply and act accordingly.You can even make a leisure attempt if you are sure about the deadlines and other alternate application procedures of the universities in your list of choice.
