Update about my preparation

Hi friends,

today I took my power prep test 1 and I am disheartened. I got 410 in verbal and 580 in quants. I have registered for my actual test on Dec 30. Is it possible to raise my scores by 100 points in each? My biggest problem in math is i lack speed. Verbal is terrible and i feel stumped! I completed 45 word lists from Barrons so far. I really feel dejected!

Hi vasoolraja,

You have sufficient time to cope up. So, dont worry and just keep working on thy weaknesses. For that, first know them. BIG CD GRE CAT had helped me know my weaknesses. I will recommend it to you as well.
1 more imp thing, dont by heart words at home/library. Do that on the move using flash cards. I had used Kaplan Flash cards, but later found that BIG CD Flash cards had more than 4000 words were also good. Anyways, there are many flash cards available in the market, just grab any good one.

Hope u rock in your exam.

Shelly

First of all I think you gave your powerprep test way too early, you get only two tests.

But the good news is that you have 2 months to improve which is a lot of time(I started seriously preparing only a month before my test). You go through all the chapters in Barrons Quants and solve the exercises.

The more you practice the faster u will get in maths. Also most of the problems in the GRE are such that you dont need massive calculations for them.

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. I am using Nova, kaplan and barrons for math. In fact, I completed going through them once and was feeling confident of getting over 650 in power prep. But, despite all this preparation I couldn't reach that mark. My greatest weekness seems to be speed. I reached the 20th question when only a few minutes were left!

Verbal is notorious. Five years ago i scored 510 in verbal on the actual test. Hope I will be able to atleast get this score on my actual test.
