770 quant 590 verbal

Hey I just took the GRE and received 770 on quant and 590 on verbal. The avg. quant score for the grad program i'm applying to is around 790. Is 770 going to prevent me from getting in? I mean 770 is not that far off from the avg score of 790. Any inputs is appreciated!

In my opinion, you should not worry about your quant score. 770 is about 87th percentile and it's good enough for most schools, even the top ones, and as you have mentioned, 770 is really not that different from a 790. Don't worry about your scores and you should instead focus on working your statements and asking for strong recommendations.

I think your score will be fine but will depend on other components of your application, ie., your Statement of purpose, GPA, etc.. Good luck!
