Question for the Gurus oF TM and GREs

I just finished my 2nd attempt at the GRE's yesterday and since I had 13 different schools I'm applying to for PhD, I need to send additional score reports. Most of these deadlines are on Dec. 1 (so a little over 3 weeks). I was wondering can I request additional score reports now or do I need to wait until I receive my official score report in 2 weeks? Which way would be faster by phone or online?

Waiting for the official score report before requesting for more may be very close to my deadline, but I'm afraid if I request the additional ones now they won't include my new GRE score but only my old one.

Anybody in a similar situation or know the answers to my questions? Please reply promptly if possible. I appreciate it. Thanks.

I might not qualify as a guru, but I think you should send your score 2 weeks after your test. Most universities receive GRE scores twice a month, and in any case, you can always explain to them that your scores are on the way, in case they haven't received them.

I suggest keeping the two weeks gap, because ETS says it takes that long to send your scores, and you want to keep a buffer instead of wasting your money. Both methods of ordering (phone and online) would be equally fast, except that you wouldn't have to pay call charges if you did it via phone.

thanks for the reply Goldust, so what you're saying is that I should request for additional score reports after I receive my official score report instead of right now correct?

and you mean I wouldn't have to pay call charges if I did it via "online" right?

Try to log in to the ASRs online system and see if you have two test dates. I think you can request a future score to be sent usling the online system.

I logged into the ASR online system with the recent test info, but I only saw 1 test date (the old one) listed there. So does that mean if I were to request ASRs now, the new score wouldn't be included? I really want to get the ASRs done asap so I won't have to worry about missing the Dec 1 deadlines but I don't want to not have my scores from yesterday not sent . Thanks for all your help!

No, I am saying that you should send your ASRs two weeks after your test date, regardless of whether you receive your score report then or not. Just give ETS enough time to evaluate your essays and get your final score out.

If you order your ASRs online, yes, you wouldn't have to pay any call charges.

Lastly, don't worry about your GRE scores reaching after the deadline. Most schools accommodate late GRE scores, if you can provide them with your provisional scores in the application (without the AWA scores of course).

So, another question came up. I logged onto the ASR online system and saw that now there are 2 scores on there like this:

11/03/2009 - CBT GENERAL TEST

Send Currently Available Scores (includes scores from test dates listed below)
10/03/2009 - CBT GENERAL TEST

I was wondering, does it make a difference what I select? No matter what ETS sends all of the scores right? I find it odd that the 2 selections are formatted differently too because the older score says "Send Currently Available Scores" while the other one does not. Does that mean the 11/03/2009 is not available yet? But it is an option I can select?

I think this is what this means:

If you select the top option, ETS will send your score from the 11/03 test when it becomes available along with the 10/03 test. However, if you select the bottom option, ETS will send the 10/03 score right away and then add the 11/03 score when it becomes available. So, it is just a question of sending your score right now or when the latest one becomes available.
