1090 in First attempt. Shall i retake\. Please guide me ..

Hello all
I gave my GRE on last month and scored 1090(350V and 740 Q) and 3.5 in AWA. I want to do MS in computer science, from a very good university in US(I am not considering MIT, stanford etc..) I know my score is not good to get in a very good university for computer science.

So, I have booked my 2 GRE test date on 22 july. In these 20 days i have done 40 wordlists form barrons. In my first attempt i have prepared only for 20days so was not able to do barrons wordlists and did only princeton hit parade and beyond hit parade and some major test wordlist.

I am confused now i have booked my date and i am not very confident about it. I don't want to screw my 2 attempt, but the pattern is changing from august and i dnt want my prep and books to go in waste...

Yesterday i gave kaplan test and scored 440 in verbal and 700 in maths. Maths was tough in kaplan, maths is not an issue i am very sure if my luck dsnt f*** me then i will get 750+. I am worried about verbal section

Shall i take the gre on 22nd ? or leave it and prepare for 2 months and take it in new pattern (my old books in dustbin ).
Or shall i write and if i dnt score good this time also prep for 2months and write again in new pattern ?

Some experienced people please guide me.

I have the same problem as u, except that this is my first attempt. I have been preparing for a while now, i started with Barrons, but couldn finish it, so i took the hit parade in princeton only.. i have been practising a lot, but even in the power prep test of ETS am getting less than 500 in verbal, even thought 65-75% of my answers are correct..i am sure i can crack the quant section..but i am not sure whether ill touch even 1300 People say tat what we get in ETS is the average score we ll get in the GRE exam.. this is my last hope.. i don want to try the new pattern.. Pls any suggestions? is it true tat what i get in powetr prep ll be my score?

Powerprep predicts your mind exactly.
But thats not the case for all. Usually your gre score varies + or - 30.
And to Op. Only if you are confident you should take the test. But dont take below 1090 , then you're screwed.
If you can't make in the 2nd attempt,give a 3rd chance too. Don't worry, knowledge is power "it's not waste".
Keep the books, it has good wordlists which is revised for a decade. And have the method's in mind, it should work with RGRE too for similar type of questions.

got 510.

Please tell me how my multiple scores will be considered ?

Different programs consider sets of scores in different ways. Some will look at the best score from each section, some will average scores for each section across tests, some will consider only the most recent scores. You need to find this information on the websites of the programs you are interested in applying to. If it is not there, send an email to the admissions office and they may be able to help you out.

I got 1330 790Q + 540V. Am happy with the score. So Powerprep is not the only decideing factor! i got almost 150 more than i got in power prep
