Hi,
You yourself seem to have ranked them appropriately. However, the question remains whether these 'coursewares' would suffice for the average test takers. I don't know where u stand. If u need, go thro' the threads here to fish out for more material. I'd say that there is no single comprehensive book for GRE, and hence it's not wrong to use all that you may lay your hands upon in this regard, especially vocab, assuming that u r from a math background.
All the best.
None. Powerprep is best, its most accurate to what the actual test looks like and will ask you. Made by the people to make the tests.
I've been reviewing various books and doing practice drills in them. I'd say Barrons and Kaplan's. But I've noticed that Barron's has more practice problems than the Kaplan book does and seems like it's a bit more comprehensive. However the separate Kaplan workbooks are pretty good too and I like Kaplan's strategies better. They are easier to work with. Eh to Princeton and I don't know about the bigCD (never saw that)
But of course, the best is obviously the Powerprep software (download free from www.gre.org). I haven't practiced it yet because I've been brushing up on info and want to really go into the Powerprep with confidence but I've done a few quant drills on there and it looks like it emulates the real test pretty well.
I just want to reaffirm my conclusion that powerprepp is indeed the best study material. I took the test again today and it was spot on. There were even some questions the same as the software!
I recommend Barron's vocabulary section and powerprepp's exercises + math study guide. If you master all three you should do well.
Barren's math section is extremely thorough -- even overkill I believe. For example I've never had combinations/permutations probability questions on an official exam yet. The real GRE has only simple elementary probability questions. BUT, if you master Barron's math as well you should ace the exam itself.
You should only take the powerprepp practice tests one time each, that way you avoid simply memorizing the questions and artificially boosting your score. Before you start studying for GRE, take one practice test to create your baseline of where you stand now. When you are ready to take the exam after lots of preparation, do the second practice test to see how much you improved -- that score should be very accurate to what you will get on the real exam.
math study guide? what is that ? please explain!
The disease called Aging !
the math study guide in the powerprep software. It is the exact material that is found on the actual tests. If you know all that material, you can answer any question on the exam.Originally Posted by virendra
