I tried kaplen's online course, and canceled it next day. it was nothing but the same kaplen book online, with extra few CBTs. it was waste of time and money.

I tried taking Princeton review coaching in Bangalore & spent a huge amount of my hard earned money on a bad coaching. I was extremely Disappointed with them. I don't know if it is different in New Delhi , ask for some free sessions & don't pay your full amount till u r satisfied. They will just teach you some strategies to solve analogies, antonyms ,rc's. But believe me you can pick up those by reading some good books. Vocab is the biggest part of CBT which they don't lay much stress on & will provide you material. So my advice is beware when you are investing a big amount. My experience with the faculty & their admin is not good. Good luck to you.

For the quant, I'm assuming you can max out on your own.

For verbal, get the Barron's book and memorize those vocab. If you get down all 3500 or whatever the number was, you're almost guaranteed a 600 assuming your reading is not horrible.

For writing, practice practice practice. I wrote about 50 practice essays myself and got a 5.5. Considering my writing background is horrible (Below 50th percentile on SAT II writing), I would consider it the hardest part of the GREs. Also consider a book by James Allen Stewart I think which has responses to a lot of the topic themes.

Theres no replacement for hard work, not even money. A few books is all you need to achieve the scores of your dreams

Actually, the materials they use in the Princeton Review course aren't the same ones they sell in the bookstore, so you can get more out of those because they go deeper. Shubha it sucks that you had a bad instructor, but I guess that can happen anywhere, including grad school!! LOL. I agree it's a good idea to sit in on a class or two, but I would definitely do Princeton Review over Kaplan. The strategies are better, and Kaplan does use the same books in their courses that they sell in bookstores.

    Hey
I agree with many here that coaching isn't the only way out..
In coaching institutes, you would be given some strategies... So if you want some stategies, its okay to get some coaching.. You should go in for some classroom coaching if you feel that you need deadlines and stuff to motivate yourself...
But as others said, coaching alone isn't going to get you to a good score... I think you should just get thru Barrons. You could also try Princeton Review stategies from the books. Try getting the BigBook -its great.. practice reading good articles from NYtimes or economist.com...
