GRE 1110.....please, I need advice!!!

Hi guys,
I am desperate!!!My GRE is horrible (v 420 q 690)...and I need your advice: I will apply for a PhD in Hispanic Literatures (Columbia, Berkeley, UCDavis, UPenn, Duke, UPitt...) and I come from Italy...so it is very difficult the GRE, especially the verbal section...
I have taken the TOEFL as well...pretty good, 110...I graduate summa cum laude from my BA and the GPA in my master is 4.0....
I have published three translations (from spanish to italian) and presented a paper in a conference.
Well, now this is the problem: since my GRE score is...well I do not even have words to describe it...say just extremely poor ...I am thinking about retaking it...but on the other hand I am writing my master thesis...about 150 pages...and I have to present it in october...furthermore, I should prepare the applications (statement of purpose....)

So, what do you think I should do? I am pretty frustrated about my situation...and I really do not know what to do...I know that it is difficult for me to do better in the verbal, mainly because of my discrepancies in English...and also I do not want to take time from my thesis....
But I would like also to get in a good school...
Any suggestions???

maybe you should try to get some books about GRE vocab, and just memorize the terms on your way to school?

I am pretty busy working as a research assistant, but that helped to bring my score up quite a bit on the mocks.

Arrow

Try to improve your verbal score by learning words fron Barron's word list. More words you know more the chances of getting a decent score. Practice verbal tests from ETS Big Book they are excellent.

Do not panic you have a decent profile just concentrate on verbal section and you will get into a good school of your choice.

good luck

Thank you for your advices!!!
I will try to memorize as many words as possible!!!The only problem is that it is easy for me, to learn the list of common words that appeare on the GRE...since I am italian, I can understand the meaning....the problem is with the "easy" words for a native speaker....
But I will try!!!

Just a question...and if a retake the test and then I will get a lower grade????
