Question Taking the GRE a multiple of times

One serious doubt regarding gre is haunting me a lot, that is if we take gre multiple of times does it affect at the time of visa or during admission in the school.

Not really, provided you do show improvement on each score! If the improvement part is missing, it really doesn't reflect well on the test taker's part.
I am told that i talk in shorthand & then smudge it.

Absoluetly Not A Problem. Schools Can Care Less If You Take The Gre 10 Times, They Will Look At Either Your Latest Score, Or Your Best Score. I Have Been Told This By Many People On Admissions Committee

This is bullshit. Policy varies. Certain schools (top schools) will either average scores or look at the trend and consider top scores in the scope of ALL scores.

can you give us a link where you got your information from? I currently attend a top 20 school for a masters in math and my advisor, who is on the ad committee, told me that they consider the highest set of scores regradless of the number of times a candidate take the tests. Maybe you got some inside info we don't know about.

This is from contacting other schools through email. Specfically programs at stanford, and princeton. Also, I am an undergraduate at a top 15 US private institution so my advisor is familiar with our policy and others. The GRE is NOT like the SATs where you can and should take it more than once. Most grad schools see the GRE as something that should be a one shot deal.

very interesting. I wonder why ETS states on their website that a candidate can take the test multiple times if schools see the test as a one shot deal only.....
