Very little time for GRE preparation :(

    Hi,

Presently i m concentrating on only University of Houston and Rice university.

Please suggest and also as how to start my prep.. I am from engineering background with 2 yrs work exp in US based MNC.

1 month or 1 and half month time is enough for preparation to get an ok score.I think the minimum requirement for those universities you mentioned is 950-1000.So,its okay.
First,Complete the Barrons wordlists in 25days.I think 1 week is enough for Quant preparation.Nova and Barrons are good enough for Math prep.
Dont forget to keep last 10 days for practicing.Practicing is more important than learning vocabulary.
    btw..Which country are you from?
    Good Luck.

It would be a mistake to just do vocab for the first 25 days. You need to get comfortable with the test. Only a handful of those words from Barron's will show up on the test. With only a month and a half to prepare, I would study vocab with a smaller list, a "hit list". I have Word Smart for the GRE and it has a much higher chance for those words to show up on the real test. Plus it has very good tips for learning new words. I think it is much better than Barron's when you don't have a lot of time.

Do practice questions as much as you can. Official Guide doesn't seem to be as good anymore, but I think there's a new one out, so try that. You also have to take practice tests, so get the free ones from GRE: Graduate Record Examinations Information and also get Cracking the GRE, which has four tests that are really good.

    Hi
Even I am appearing for GRE in 1 month time.. Have done only 800-1000 words till now from Princeton Review and Kaplan. Very difficult to memorise 3500 words from barrons in such a short time. Hey FESTIVUS which smart wordlist are u talking abt? Where is it available?

Sindhupriya, you have 40 more days for your preparation right..
Leave the last 10days for practice. If you are working with the wordlists now,
complete them within 15-20days.I think 1week is enough for Quant.
Revising the wordlists is very important.Keep revising them from the day you finished studying them once.Nova and Barron's are good enough for Math.
If you have time,Practice the whole verbal section in Big Book.
BTW..how much score you are aiming at?

The one I'm referring to is called Word Smart for the GRE. The newest one just came out this summer:

Amazon.com: Word Smart for the GRE, 2nd Edition (Smart Guides): Books: Princeton Review
