GRE books- old editions vs. new edition
hello everyone,
I have the old editions of Barrons, Kaplan and Nova. I know the format of GRE have been changed in November 2007. Should I buy any of the new editions of any of the books? Thank you. |

It doesn't matter much.. the new books (Arco, etc) devote only a pages to the new type.. The word lists will not be changing over time, I knwo this from the old question papers from BB. Kaplan etc aren't worth the money anyway.. use Nova and Barron's.. basically the concepts should be clear, any word lists from Barron's + whatever you don't know from BB. Remember.. less material, more depth!
There are no new question types described in Barron's or Nova's 2008 edition, which is what I have. Kaplan briefly mentions them, but I don''t remember any practice questions.. Do these questions count in the score?? |

Thanks Geek. I think I should be fine with the older editions then. Check this out http://www.ets.org/Media/Tests/GRE/pdf/6398_qanda.pdf. The new questions may/ may not count towards your score. ETS has not said anything definite about that yet.

If you have Barron's and Kaplan, you will be fine. Princeton was not helpful at all. Their method for solving quants is ridiculous and more time-consuming than a straightforward solution would be. (They recommend plugging in the answer choices for EVERY TYPE of problem.)
