New question types: still experimental?
The following from ETS suggests that the new "text completion" and "numeric entry" types are still experimental (dont count):

If true, this dramatically affects test-taking strategy for those seeking 1550+. Anybody have any info on this? The only posts I could find simply say the new questions encountered on real tests are easy. |

ETS started introducing "the new question types" from November 2007. Their website says that the the "new question types" would start counting towards your final score once ETS has accumulated enough data. It's been almost 8 months since then. So I am guessing that it's going to happen any time soon. I hope they announce it or something before they finalize it.

OK, so this begs the question:
If I see a "new question type" on my exam, would I be justified in not giving it as much time as I might a "real" question? I don't expect anybody has a hard answer to this, but does anybody have an opinion? |

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too.
Next question: IF the new types are indeed still "experimental", and... IF I encounter one in say, the verbal section, => Would it not stand to reason that the entire section is experimental? Otherwise, how would they not mess up the entire timing of the section? I hope if I get one that it's at the end, or else it's going to totally mess with my focus. |
