Got my results today...
Reading:8, Listening:8.5, Speaking:7.5, Writing:6.5

. overall 7.5
I hope I do not miss out on any college because of the low writing score..
Can someone tell me if its acceptable??

Well.. I dint say.. I am not happy about the score..

..just worried about the low writting score.. Dunno if it might affect my application to any university...

As long as it was a misunderstanding on my part, your writing should be fine (it is a pretty good score). Congrats and good luck!

I totally understand your point, ARD. In fact, some universities require a minimum score in all sections. I will take the Ielts test next week and I have checked the universities I intend to apply. For the phd in economics, your score is fine for all universities except Chicago. Indeed, the department of economics of Chicago requires all sections of the Ielts to be, at least, 7.

You better check the websites of the universities you intend to apply in order to see if your scores meet the minimum requirements.
