The best way to improve your IELTS score is to practice as much as possible. There are great resources on the internet for IELTS preparation. I have been able to find great free practice tests for my students. I have also put together some IELTS Exam tips. Check them out and let me know what you think. Perhaps they will be helpful to you.

For listening, open BBC radio and listen all the time while you are doing other things at the PC. But, at least one hour or more a day you have listen it with giving all your focus to it, this will upgrade your listening. But to succes in IELTS you have to listen other things too like documentaries movies because the topic scale is so varied. For reading, in my opinion books are useless because their language is so different than IELTS passages, in order to improve your reading you should read magazine articles , such as, Times, Newsweek, etc. And at both parts of exam practise is the key and its easier than to try to practise for writing or speaking because at the end you can see the result.
