practice makes a man perfect or in this case, a woman!! on a serious note, the yes/no question type is the toughest question type on the IELTS. i genuinely think that you aren't very comfortable with the language..what I suggest is:
1. More and More practice
2. Read newspapers, online articles and blogs to make yourself feel at home with the language
3. When you are attempting the reading section, try and get a hang of what each paragraph is trying to tell you..go to the question, search for it in the paragraph..In a normal scenario, one usual pattern that you will notice is that each question type (Yes/No, True/False, Identify the correct paragraph) has questions in a certain structure..If answer to question 1 is in para 1, then the rest will follow in a logical sequence..However, there will be a deviation in certain passages so that they can test you to the fullest and not let you get away easily!
4. A cardinal sin that you must avoid is to NEVER read the entire passage and then attempt the questions..you will be WASTING time!!
5. My personal experience tells me that the CAMBRIDGE PRACTICE TESTS are the best..its the closest representation of the IELTS and prepares you adequately for D-day!
6. The best way to manage time is to practice under examination day conditions..what you are really asking is the amount of time required for each question..I'd say 15 for the first 12..20 mins for the next 15...and the last 13 in 25mins...you will notice that you are getting progressively slower because you will tire and the difficulty level of questions will increase.
7. Make sure that you log your mistakes on paper/PC. The type of mistakes that you are making is very important in assessing your next step...if your mistakes are silly and due to negligence, then you are ok..if comprehension is a problem, that is you fail to understand the passage more often than not, then you really need to work hard..divide the kind of mistakes you make into atleast say 3-4 categories...be systematic...you will shine through!!
