I have registered to take the IELTS General Option exam on 24th Oct in NYC. I have no idea what the exam is all about? Any place where I can download the "Official IELTS practice material 2007".

What's the avg score people get on this? I would rate myself 9/10 in English.

Why do you have to take the test? Your English seems very good. There are lots of native speakers of English who have to take the test and don't prepare because they are so confident in their skills. But they don't read up on the strategies.

I recommend you do some research - check the IELTS official website (do a Google search; I can't post links). And then Google 'British Council IELTS preparation' for some practice activities.
