Took the GMAT yesterday.
Didnt do as well in Verbal as I had expected to. SC was straightforward, must have screwed up reading comprehension and critical reasoning . But I'm going to collect my chips and scoot. Bye Bye ETS and good riddance .Other scores PP1 PP2(both after going through OG) - 790 Kaplan - 690, 740 Princeton - 740. First, Erin Billy - I cannot thank you enough for setting up TM and SC.com. If you are ever in Bangalore, India you can stay at my place for as long as you want to. If I am in SF, food and drinks on me. These websites not only made the SC section a breeze but also improved my English. Second, for the rest of the test takers - I have an M.S in Electrical engineering, a field that requires significant proficiency in Math. So believe me when I say that the questions on Math section in the GMAT are not more difficult but rather more time consuming than the ones in the Official Guide. More 3 step problems than in the PowerPrep. Please plan accordingly. Finally, for DS questions, I used a simple technique which brought down the number of errors (esp from carrying over information from data A to data B) significantly. If you guys are still a couple of weeks away from the exam and want to try it out let me know and I'll put it up here. So long folks and best of luck. Ciao. |

Congrats, Mpalki - excellent job!
![]() ![]() ![]() And I'm even more impressed that you were able to get 740 on one of those bloody Kaplan tests ![]() When you have a few minutes, you should definitely post your technique for DS - lots of people find DS tricky, and there are always new folks joining this board who will still be reading your tips many months from now. Best of luck with you applications! |

Hi all,
Thanks for the wishes and I wish you all godspeed and plenty of luck. Thanks Ursula for the fantastic post and congratulations to you too for a great score. Erin, I have prepared a small word doc with some strategies for solving DS and SC questions. But this forum does'nt seem to allow uploading of files. Please advise. Regards Manoj |
